SMART AGRICULTURE

Technology-Driven Farming for a Food-Secure, Prosperous Ghana

Ghana is one of West Africa's most agriculturally endowed nations, blessed with fertile land, reliable rainfall, a hardworking farming population, and a government committed to food security. Yet Ghana continues to import billions of dollars' worth of food that it has the capacity to grow at home. DADDS's Smart Agriculture initiative exists to change that. Our vision is a Ghana where smallholder and commercial farmers are equipped with the technology, knowledge, capital, and market access they need to produce abundantly, profitably, and sustainably, feeding Ghana first, and Africa next. We see technology not as a replacement for the farmer, but as the most powerful tool a farmer can have in their hands.

The Opportunity

Ghana's agricultural sector contributes approximately 20% of GDP and employs over 40% of the workforce, yet it remains largely unmechanised and under-resourced. DADDS Smart Agriculture is designed to unlock this latent potential at scale.

Target Beneficiaries

DADDS Smart Agriculture is designed to serve multiple levels of the agricultural value chain simultaneously:

  • Smallholder farmers - the backbone of Ghana's agricultural sector — who lack access to technology, credit, and markets but have the land, skills, and will produce more.
  • Diaspora Africans who wish to invest in Ghana's agricultural sector as a business opportunity or as a contribution to food security, without needing to be physically present on a farm.
  • Young Ghanaian agripreneurs who want to build technology-driven agricultural enterprises and need mentorship, funding, and market connections to scale.
  • Commercial farming enterprises seeking to modernise operations, reduce costs, and improve productivity through precision agriculture technologies.
  • Women farmers, who make up over 52% of Ghana's agricultural workforce but receive a disproportionately small share of credit, training, and market support.
